4 Steps to Change Your College After the First Year: New Vibrant PU College

vibrant pu college

Choosing the right college is one of the most important decisions you’ll make for your future. For students looking to join 2nd PUC via lateral entry, it’s essential to find an environment that encourages growth, supports your ambitions, and offers the right opportunities. Whether you’re considering transferring or seeking scholarship test opportunities, making the right choice now can set the foundation for academic success and personal development.

What are some reasons that might make you unhappy with your college?

1. Life is stressful

Stress doesn’t always come from just having too much to study or too many exams. Often, it arises from how students feel treated and valued in their environment. For example, if a teacher is kind to some but dismissive or harsh toward others, that negativity can affect the entire class atmosphere. Moreover, when administrations focus more on controlling or silencing students rather than encouraging them, it stifles their growth, both personally and professionally. A supportive atmosphere where students’ voices are respected is essential for true development.

2. Dress code is imposed

This is a significant issue to discuss. I’ve written a separate article on how dress codes undermine student values. This may work for some but feel burdensome for others. Opinions vary.

3. No academic culture

Academic culture refers to how education is delivered in colleges. Are assignments meaningful or just busywork? Do you have enough opportunities to apply what you’ve learned?

What about resources? Is there a good library available to satisfy your curiosity? These are important questions. If a college lacks a solid academic culture, there’s no reason to stay. If content is referenced and properly acknowledged, that’s acceptable. However, if a teacher copies content, how will they prevent students from submitting plagiarized work?

4. No extracurricular or co-curricular activities

Colleges should promote professionalism. Good extracurricular and co-curricular activities are essential for this. A lack of such activities can stifle your creativity.

How to Change Your College After the First Year?

Not just after the first year, some colleges even accept students later. This process is called lateral entry. Many students, unaware of this option, start from scratch. Here are some ways to apply for lateral entry.

1. Find your desired college

Research online and thoroughly analyze the college you want to apply to. Review their entire website.

2. Check if they support lateral entry

You can find this information on their website. If lateral entry is allowed, reach out to the relevant authority via phone or email.

3. If not, contact the department

Note: You cannot change your course even after lateral entry.

If the website doesn’t mention lateral entry, find the contact details for the faculty in the department. Let them know you want to apply for lateral entry. If they agree, they will explain the entire procedure.

4. Keep your documents ready

Typically, you will need your 10th mark sheet, along with your 1st PUC results. You might also need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the college you plan to leave. Other required documents may vary from college to college.
